About Lynn Hickey

Hygiene Therapist / GDC Reg No:5023

Originally from Scotland, I qualified as a dental nurse in 1990 and attained the Oral Health Certificate in 1992. I attended Dundee Dental Hospital and University and gained a Diploma in Dental Hygiene in 1995.

I came to Blackburn in 1996 and have two wonderful children, Ciara 15 and Euan 12 who both attend local schools.

I work part time in three different surgeries and came to Bank view in 2004. I enjoy working here because they are very forward thinking and great with training and teamwork.

Lynn Hickey

Kathy Smith

Practice Manager / GDC Reg No: 138897

I am a local resident, born and bred in Blackburn. After leaving Witton park High School I started work in an office at a high street store. I am married to Sheldon and have three children Laura, Sarah and Joules, all of which have left home now. I have four grandchildren Alfie, Conor, Harriet and Edie who I love spending time with. I also enjoy walking.

I have worked at the practice since 1995, starting as a receptionist for three mornings a week, working up to full time and then also working as a dental nurse. Soon after starting at the practice, I returned to college to study for and attain a Diploma in Practice Management which is the role I fulfil now within the practice. I have also successfully completed the ITQ.

I love my job because it is challenging but very interesting. Khalid and Thomas are wonderful to work with and we have a great support team which works well together. I enjoy meeting our patients and having friendly, pleasant conversations with them. I especially love to hear their positive reactions towards the dentists, our team and the Bank View Smile Studios experience. It’s wonderful to see them all arrive happy and leave delighted.

About Hayley Bolton

Senior Receptionist and Book Keeper

I have lived in Blackburn all my life. After leaving Billing High school I went on to study for a Reception Diploma at Blackburn college.

I have worked at the practice for the past 18 years, initially starting as a part-time receptionist and then moving into nursing after undergoing our in-house training programme. I still work as a receptionist but also work alongside Khalid in surgery when I am needed.

Working on reception I find it particularly helpful as I have a tangible understanding of the patient journey from start to finish. I love working in surgery because its extremely interesting, I’m learning and seeing new things all the time. This is because the dentists are constantly building on their substantial knowledge by attending post graduate courses.

Working at Bank View is very pleasurable because we have friendly dentists and a wonderful team of support staff, we get on well and I enjoy meeting new patients.

I have one daughter Emma and 2 grandsons, Finlay and Chase Lincoln Tiberius.

Bushra

Bushra Ali Shah

Dental Nurse and Audit Manager GDC Reg No: 200011

I have been nursing for 17 years and I have nursed alongside Khalid at Bank View since May 2021.

The best part of my job is being part of the patient journey from start to finish as I get a chance to see the magic unfold in front of my eyes when I’m assisting chairside.

It is wonderful to experience patients transforming from nervous to confident, unhappy to overjoyed and uncertain to self-assured.

Every day is a learning day at Bank View as Khalid is a great teacher and there’s never a dull moment.

In my spare time I enjoy doing DIY, decorating and have a passion for photography, sunset views in particular.

Julie Ibrahim

Receptionist/ Dental Nurse / GDC Reg No: 139346

I am a Blackburn resident and have worked in dental practices for more than 30 years. I started my career at this practice once I had left St Wilfred’s High School and after working for other practices, I returned to work here over 20 years ago.

I really like working at Bank View Smile Studios because I enjoy what I do and I know I’m working alongside a great team of highly skilled professionals.

I am registered with the GDC so I am able to assist in surgery but I particularly enjoy my role in reception because I get the opportunity to meet all our lovely patients not just the people that I would be helping to treat. I enjoy all aspects of my work and this is made particularly easy as I have 2 great bosses in Khalid and Thomas.

I have 2 daughters Zayna and Layla, 2 Granddaughters, Isobella and Scarlet and 2 grandsons Charlie and Mason. I love spending time with my family and friends and helping with local charities.

I enjoy working with Dr Somia meeting a wide range of patients from different backgrounds and carrying out varied treatments changing patient lives for the better.

What I like best about working at BVSS is the friendly team and both bosses are fabulous.

Naeema Patel

Naeema Patel

Receptionist and Dental Nurse

I was born and raised in Blackburn and went to Uni to study business and finance. I worked on my degree for 10 years or so and decided I wanted a change. I started training to be a dental nurse in 2019 but due to delays with Covid qualified last year.

I like reading, spending time with family, going for scenic walks with my husband Adam, going for meals, shopping and holidays.

I work with Thomas, which I love and enjoy. I have learnt a lot from him and continue learning when in surgery with them.

Aliyah

Aliyah Miah

I joined Bank View in February 2023 as a recently qualified dental nurse. I enjoy working alongside Thomas and get on with all the members of lovely team we have at BVSS to ensure all patients receive the best quality of care.

I am passionate about a patient centred approach which patients feel comfortable and listened to at all times. With this philosophy, I aim to deliver duties to help with the smooth running of the practice.

Outside of work I enjoy socialising with family and friends, painting, and exploring new places through walks.

The best thing about working at BVSS is the welcoming environment is like a home away from home.
